The Newport Festivals Foundation fosters the legacy and expands the impact of its Festivals through educational initiatives that celebrate innovation, while preserving the deep traditions inherent in Jazz and Folk music.

Our foundation strengthens the traditions of jazz and folk through programs that nurture musicians in New England:  traveling ensemble performances, scholarships, instrument donations and after-school music program funding. We also provide student bands with unique opportunities to perform at our festivals.

Founded in 1954 and 1959 respectively, the Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals have always strived to present artists who respect and honor jazz and folk music traditions, while at the same time reflecting the changes in trends and the times in which they live. As the first outdoor music festivals in the US, they continue, to this day, to be leaders and innovators.
